Curriculum Vitae:

michela russoMichela Russo holds an M.S. degree in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Naples Federico II, where she completed her dissertation titled “Implementation of Machine Learning Algorithms for the Recognition of Gait Patterns in Parkinson’s Disease Patients with Mild
Cognitive Impairment” in 2021.
She obtained her Ph.D. at the Department of Information Technology and Electrical Engineering of the same university with a thesis titled “Human Movement Analysis and Artificial Intelligence in the Assessment of Parkinsonisms” and is currently a postdoctoral researcher. She is also involved as a research fellow in the PNRR project “A window into the mind-brain-body interplay: development of diagnostic, prognostic biomarkers and rehabilitation strategies in functional motor disorders” at the Ruggi d’Aragona Hospital in Salerno.
Her research focuses on gait analysis, with a particular emphasis on patients affected by neurodegenerative diseases. Her main areas of expertise include biomedical signal processing, data analysis, and artificial intelligence in the healthcare sector, with a particular focus on the application of machine learning techniques.
As part of her studies, she spent a research period abroad at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (Germany), further deepening her knowledge in these fields.
Michela Russo has authored several articles in international scientific journals and has presented her research at numerous national and international conferences, including the Società Italiana di Analisi del Movimento in Clinica (SIAMOC), the IEEE International
Conference on Metrology for eXtended Reality, Artificial Intelligence, and Neural Engineering (MetroXRAINE), and the IEEE International Conference on E-Health Engineering (EHB).
In 2022, she was awarded the "Neural Data Processing" prize by ab medica S.p.A. at the IEEE MetroXRAINE conference. Furthermore, she played a key role as the organizer of the Special Session "Simulation Approaches and Artificial Intelligence for Healthcare and Biomedical Engineering" at the 2023 IEEE MetroXRAINE conference.
