Curriculum Vitae:

Paolo Bifulco received the Italian degree in Electronic Engineering from the University of Naples 'Federico II'.

In 1991-92 he attended the 'European Course on Biomedical Engineering and Medical Physics' at the University of Patras.


In 1994 he was Research Assistant at the Institute of Sound and Vibration Research of the University of Southampton, UK.


He received the PhD in Bioengineering in 1998 from the University of Bologna, Italy.


Since 1994 he has been involved in research in Biomedical Engineering, mainly at the University 'Federico II' of Naples.


He is Member of the Italian Bioengineering Group.


He also participated in international and national research projects: TREAD - Technology for Rehabilitation of Autonomy of Motor Disabled (European Concerted Action); IMPROVE - Improving Control of Patient Status in Critical Care (European Concerted Action); EUREKA - ELVIN (European Project), ISS Italian Institute of Health - Functional substitutions, artificial organs and transplants; TEMPERE - Training and education for Medical Physics and Engineering Reform in Europe (European Project DG XXII); MELETI - Medical Engineering Listed Education & Training Information (European Project DG XXII); TELEPLANS - Telemedicine for Citizens (EU Concerted Action DGXIII); TOCOMAT (Campania Region); INTCARD (Campania Region); Telemedicine (POR measure 6.2 - Campania Region); IN.TE.SA. (Telematic health integration for the continuity of the care, national FIRB project); ReCoM (Remote & Continuous Monitoring - POR measure 3.17 - Campania Region); PRIN (Development of microscopy techniques in the control of cell motility).


During 2000 and 2001 he was Research Assistant at the University of Naples 'Federico II'.


In 2003 he acted as evaluator for the European EC projects.


Since 2004 he has been Researcher in Bioengineering at the Dept. of Electronic and Telecommunication Engineering of the University of Naples 'Federico II'.


Since 2005-06 academic year he has been Aggregate Professor.


He has taught: Clinical Engineering, Biomedical Instrumentation, Health Telematics and Telemedicine, Organization and Automation of Healthcare Services, Laboratory of Bioengineering and other courses at Faculties of Engineering and Medicine.


He promoted external training stages for students with various biomedical engineering enterprises, local health units and hospitals.


In 2007 he was Member of the Chartered Engineering Committee in Naples.


He acted as reviewer for some international journals.


He was supervisor of some PhD thesis and many degree theses, he also acted as tutor of Erasmus foreign students.


He participated in many international and national conferences.


Main scientific interests are in the field of biomedical signal and image processing, biomedical instrumentation, clinical engineering, telemedicine and healthcare telematics, as documented by his scientific publications.
