Maria Agnese Pirozzi graduated in Biomedical Engineering with honours at the University of Naples "Federico II" in January 2017.Since April 2017 she is research fellow at the Institute of Biostructures and Bioimaging (IBB) of the Italian National Research Council (CNR), based in Naples.
Since January 2018 she is PhD Student in Information Technology and Electrical Engineering (ITEE), XXXIII Cycle, at the Department of Electronic Engineering and Information Technologies (DIETI) of the University of Naples "Federico II".
Her main research activities fall within the field of medical imaging processing, in particular in the field of neuroimaging. She began her research dealing with the prototyping of anatomical brain phantoms to be used for medical imaging (CT, MRI, PET, SPECT) using modern 3D printing technologies. This activity has led her to develop considerable skills in 3D modelling from medical images and in use of 3D printing software for FDM and PolyJet. Subsequently, she was actively involved in the development and testing of multiparametric brain MRI segmentation software in the presence of neurodegenerative diseases (such as multiple sclerosis). This activity led her to deepen the classical relaxometry techniques used for the segmentation of normal and abnormal brain tissues, but not suitable for clinical practice, and to translate the same paradigm to modern MRI sequences used in clinical practice through data mining approaches.
Since 2018 she has provided teaching support for the courses of Biomedical Signal and Data Processing, Image Processing and Biomedical Laboratory of Graphical User Interface. She was also co-tutor of degree thesis in Biomedical Engineering.
As part of her research, she has undertaken collaborations with European universities. She is author of scientific papers in international journals and she was a speaker in scientific national and international conferences, as documented from her publications.
