L'Unità di Ingegneria Biomedica presso il Dipartimento di Ingegneria Elettrica e delle Tecnologie dell'Informazione dell'Università degli Studi di Napoli è attiva dal 1966.

Le sue principali attività di ricerca si indirizzano verso la strumentazione biomedica, i segnali biomedici e l'elaborazione delle immagini, multimediali per l'istruzione e la telemedicina.

Negli anni passati, hanno fatto parte del gruppo di ricerca Marcello Bracale e Raffaele Castaldo.
